The energy expenditure of the body consists mainly of 3 parts: thermogenesis, physical activity and basal metabolic rate.
Recording of physical activity gives us the opportunity to measure subject’s energy consumption under normal conditions, as well as evaluating his physical activity. By measuring energy expenditure due to physical exercise, we can shape a more spherical picture of the overall energy expenditure and lifestyle of the individual.
Physical activity is recorded with SensewearArmband. This recorder has been used in a variety of research, which has been published in valid medical journals, and is used to determine energy consumption in healthy people, as well as in patients with diabetes, obesity, metabolic disorders, and other ailments.
The Sensewear Armband measures various physiological parameters of the body, worn by the patient on the left arm from 10 minutes to 2 weeks, providing measurements for:
- Total Energy Expenditure (Calories)
- Energy Expenditure during the Activity
- Duration and intensity of Physical Activity (METs)
- Total number of steps and distance covered throughοught the day
- Duration and quality of sleep
